Tamara Casey
I am a gypsy. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have travelled extensively most of my life. NYC, Boston, Virginia and Nevada have all been home at one point or another. Annapolis is home for me now but I also spend as much time in Nashville as I can.
Music has always been part of my life. As a kid, I sang and played piano and flute but never took any of it too seriously. When I moved to the East Coast as a young woman, I took up competitive ballroom dancing, which changed my relationship with music forever. My dance experience exposed me to a never ending variety of people and music from all corners of the world.
I threw myself back into music later in life after a life of hard work, soul searching and a need to reconnect with my artistic side. I do my best to create songs that paint vivid images, convey heartfelt emotions that are universally relatable or that simply touch the listener. Whether it’s to laugh out loud, bring you to tears, evoke bygone eras, poke at social injustices or just make you feel something deeply, that is what I try to bring to my music.
Music is my legacy. My body of work reflects the experiences of a turbulent childhood, a strong work ethic, a gypsy soul and a lot of scars collected over the years. But if I had to sum it all up, as I say in one of my songs “you’re never too old and it’s never too late…”
Quit your day job – follow your dreams!
